BIO OF PASTORS LACK
When Charles and Sylvia Lack first met in 1981, they believed it was a divine intervention of the Holy Spirit….and indeed over 30 years later…that has proven correct.
Vessels of Honor Ministries began when the Lord instructed them to have “one” service on Easter Day in 1986. Approximately 15 people, friends and family, attended that first service. Little did anyone know that from that “one” service, God would actually build a church that would stand to see their 25th church anniversary in 2011, with a congregation of over 550 members.
Pastor Charles is a graduate from Azusa Pacific University majoring in Biblical Studies and a minor in Elementary Education. Pastor Sylvia received an honorary doctorate degree in Biblical Studies in 2009. 1990 saw Pastors Lack on their first missionary trip to Nigeria West Africa. Teaming with Godsend Ministries of Africa, they assisted in starting two more churches in the bush in Nigeria. Returning in 1991 and 1995, Vessels continues to support these three churches on a monthly basis.
As a “home mission” outreach, both pastors joined the Bakersfield Police Department Chaplains in 1998 and the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Corp. in 2006. They continue to minister in Kern County through the Chaplain Corp. being on 24 hour call.
Pastors Charles and Sylvia Lack are dedicated to continue the direction of Love and Faith through Vessels of Honor. They are grateful that this congregation is ethnically diversified and walks in love toward God and mankind. |
